I used to think it was Illustration. And then Animation. And then Tattoos. And then Architectural Design, Graphic Design, Creative Advertising, Art and Art History and so forth... I clearly itch for creativity, scratching different surfaces to express my inner self. I seem to have an inclination for media that allow me to project myself. The downside to this is my lack of direction and commitment. No one wants to be the jack of all trades and the master of none.

Khao San Road was the first area we stayed in. Bangkok has the busiest and most crowded atmosphere, everywhere you turned you were walking elbow to elbow and skin to skin. The city quite literally never sleeps. Endless walking in dry, humid climate takes its toll on you and, like a true genius, I didn't bring any sandals to air out and expose my pasty, ultraviolet-deficient feet. I was told that anything can be bought for "cheap cheap" in Thailand, so I bought a pair of generic black Havaianas that were sold by every other street vendor in Khao San. I found a pair for 150baht, which is about 5.00cdn. It was a good haggle, I was able to bargain them down from 300baht. I didn't want to low ball the poor guy and 150baht was a price we both agreed on.

Anyways, fast forward halfway through the trip and we are now in Ko Tao, a dive island backpackers quickly refuge to after the infamous Full Moon Party in Ko Pha-Ngan, Ko Tao's wild ass neighbour. Our resort was hosting a beach party for a Swede artist named Timbuktu. It was packed with Swedes but nowhere in comparison to Full Moon Party. Anyways, it's proper Thai etiquette to remove your shoes before you enter a place. At the time however, I did not know that large functions were an exception, so I took off my broken-in Havaianas and placed them by the side of the entrance near Sousa's sandles. After some mingling, some drinking, some smoking, and some scoping, we decided to leave the party for a mellower vibe at the Cave Bar. The Cave Bar is a two minute walk from our hotel, a real cool, mellow chill spot that bumped old hip hop and even older reggae, these are much needed sounds after five days of non-stop house.

After we made our last rounds at the beach party, I was bent when I found out that my Havaianas were missing. No one would steal mine specifically since they were dirt cheap and there were dozens scattered on the floor. Apparently I wasn't the only one who knew about the exception for Thai etiquette. Some drunk fuck must have mistakenly taken mine, I thought. So I went around all the entrances trying on different Havaianas looking for the right pair that fit me. I eventually found one, one size smaller than mine, and that was that. In retrospect, I pretty much wore someone else's broken-in Havaianas for the rest of the trip, breaking in my own grooves as I clocked in more and more mileage. I wonder if the person I stole the Havaianas from did the same thing. He probably did.

those whove lost the drive to do what theyre good at ...is there a name for that/

ive forgotten the pure joy of bringing ideas to life thru a mere pencil or pen. drawing was like sharing my perceptions and ideas with people, a hardcopy glimpse through my eyes. it was my personal contribution to the world... a representation saying, this came from my mind... i came up with this... and from scratch too. an artist gone astray, i feel the need to maintain if not progress the few skills ive developed. maybe im just lazy... sadly, i just dont feel like drawing anything. my creative tendencies demand a challenge, searching for other outlets to express its entirety. i need a push, and hopefully in the right direction. it must be laziness, what else could it be?

...i need to pick up a pencil and fuckin draw something.
